Development of a Radiochemical Detector for Use in Positron Emission Tomography Radionuclide Synthesis
Positron emission tomography uses radionuclides which are naturally existing molecules in the body with radioactive atoms attached. The production of useful radionuclides involves various sophisticated steps such as chemical processing, automated synthesis, and quality control. The goal of this project is to design and develop a small, portable, and cost-efficient detector to follow the transfer of radioactivity during the automated syntheses of radionuclides used in positron emission tomography.
